In the third race for the season, from Lyndhurst, 162 birds were entered and released at 7.45 am along with 4848 SAHPA birds. They were released into a light southeasterly wind that shifted west north- westerly for most of the journey home. The winning bird flew a velocity of a little over 1300 mpm.
The winner was Rolf Goodacre who had 2 minutes to spare from Just For Fun (guess who? – yes Rolf) with Alan & Mark Brown from Sydney close up in third place. Congratulations to all the prizewinners. The returns from this race were much better and similar to those of other flyers.
In the aggregate points Mandurah City have a one point lead from Country Class with another point to Belkena and Just For Fun. Mandurah City’s Blue Checker Cock PRF 14172 who won Parachilna and finished in the top 30 in the other two races leads the Bird of the Year by 11 points from Alan & Mark Brown’s MTD 983.
The fourth race for the season is from The Twins (Approx 606 kms) on 29th August.
Registrations and deposits for the 2010 season are being taken. The entry fee is $1,100 with the deposit being $300. Please forward your completed registration form and deposit to the Treasurer as soon as possible.
