The birds entered in the third race from Lyndhurst were released at 8.30 am along with 4425 SAHPA birds. At the loft the weather was fine for most of the day with a few late showers and a mainly westerly wind. There was plenty of rain around on Sunday morning.
The race was won by Muirhead & Fuller 2 with Eagles (Ray Barrass) second and Lucky Leli (Manuel Magro) third. The first 6 birds were home within a minute. Congratulations to the winners and all of the other prize winners. Our interstate visitors for this race were Alan Brown and Stephen & Susan Shears from Sydney and John Warburton from Mildura.
SA 24825 (Qakbank Stud 1) with 73 points leads the Bird of the Year from Gippsland 2745 (Country Class) with 54 points. These two birds and Port Pirie 147 (Country Class) are the only 3 birds to have finished in the top 30 in all 3 races. In the Aggregate points, Qakbank Stud 1 with 75 points leads from Muirhead & Fuller 2 with 67 points.
Our fourth race is from Coober Pedy (approx 720 kms) on 3rd September.
