The birds entered in the third race from Marree were released at 10.00 am, along with 3697 SAHPA birds. The wind at the time of release was an 18-knot north northeasterly with a 30-35 knot north northwest to northwest wind expected for most of the journey home.
Two outstanding pigeons filled the first two places with Muirhead & Fuller winning again. This special Blue Checker Cock (SA09 03026) has now had two wins and a third from the three races. Second place went to Oakbank Stud 3 with their Blue Checker Hen (SA09 0717) having had a first, second and sixth from the three races. I’ll Be Back 1 (Barb Munro and Craig Hartley) were third. Four Aces had 3 birds in the top 30 for which they receive an additional $200 prize. Congratulations to the winners and all of the other prize winners.
The early leaders in both the Aggregate Points and Bird of the Year are Muirhead & Fuller with 88 points out of a possible 90 closely followed by Oakbank Stud 3. These two flyers and birds have cleared out from the rest of the field. Full details are on the website.
The fourth race is from The Twins (approx 610 kms) on 7th August.
Registrations and deposits for the 2011 season are being taken. The entry fee is $1,100 with the deposit being $300. Please forward your completed registration form and deposit to the Treasurer as soon as possible.
